The No. 6 ranked Ryerson Rams (14-3) were defeated by the #1 ranked Carleton Ravens (17-1) in the nation’s capital Friday night by a score of 75-57.

Led by Thomas Scrubb's 16 points, 15 rebounds and seven assists, the Ravens used a balanced attack that saw three players score 15 or more

points, like Tyson Hinz's 18 points – including three 3-pointers – and Kewyn Blain’s 15 points.

The Rams were led by Jordan Gauthier, who had a game-high 25 points and a team-high 12 rebounds. The team struggled to get any productivity

from anyone else on the team. Jahmal Jones was the only other player to score in double digits for the Rams, but was just 3-14 from the field.

The Ravens were lights out in the first quarter from three-point land, but the Rams kept it close, trailing 20-16 at the end of one quarter.

The Ravens continued their shooting in the second quarter where they began to distance themselves, outscoring the Rams 22-13 in the quarter via the three ball. The Ravens shot 43 per cent from three point range,  nailing 13 threes. The Rams trailed at half, 42-29.

Gauthier provided the spark in the third quarter on both ends of the court. The Rams were able to limit the Ravens to just 14 points in the third, but still trailed by 13 at the start of the fourth. The Rams were able to get to the free throw line, but weren’t able to capitalize.

The Rams missed ten free throws on 50 per cent shooting from the line. Aaron Best was a non-factor in the game, scoring only nine points and fouling out in the fourth quarter.

The last time these two teams squared off, the Rams were routed 91-66. With the loss, Ryerson falls to second place – tied with Ottawa in the OUA East Division. The Rams continue their road trip and battle the Ottawa Gee-Gees tonight for second place at the Montpetit Hall. Tip-off is 8 p.m.
